Press TV has conducted an interview with Ali Al Ahmed, director of the Institute for [Persian] Gulf Affairs (IGA) from Washington, to ask for his insight into the Saudis’ aggression against Yemen.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: With regards to the situation in Yemen again we’re seeing unfortunately a deafening silence on behalf of the international community and then the people of Yemen, the allied army units and also the Ansarullah fighters trying to take things into their own hands. How would you assess the Ansarullah movement’s response to the Saudi attacks? And do you think they can push Saudi Arabia outside of their country?

Al-Ahmed: I think the approach and the policy of taking Saudi territory is probably the best answer that the Yemeni armed forces, led by Ansarullah ... that’s the best answer to the Saudi aggression.

And that is better one thousand times than the international community, because relying on the so-called international community will bring disappointment.

And I think this issue here must and probably on the Yemeni side should be resolved on the ground if they take major Saudi cities the war will be over.

Press TV: Well, we know that there are going to be talks on Yemen in Geneva very soon. Given that the previous talks were not a success, do you think there will be a breakthrough reached in the talks coming? And how do you think that will be reached since Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni people have not been engaged in any sort of talks?

Al-Ahmed: The talks are good things, but they are not going to decide the end of this  war. Talks really is a place where the weak side makes concession and the strong side decides if this is good for them.

So far the Saudi side is not supporting talks, is disrupting these talks. And the Saudi-backed Yemeni forces of Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and his allies are weak on the ground.

So, this is not going to be an opportunity for the Saudis to allow them to make a decision as long as the Ansarullah movement has not made the significant gains inside Saudi Arabia, the talks will bear no results.

So, it’s really the best approach is to take more Saudi land. So, this war will end as soon as possible.
