Israeli regime forces have declared several neighborhoods in the northern occupied West Bank city of Qalqiliya as military zones.
According to the Palestinian Authority’s official news agency Wafa, the Israeli military issued an order to turn several parts of the city into a “closed military zone,” prohibiting the Palestinian people from entering.
Local sources said that Israeli forces have also closed major intersections across the region.
This comes after a 50-year-old Israeli man was stabbed and injured in the Nabi Ilyas area of the city on Sunday afternoon. The suspects managed to escape the scene of the stabbing attack.
An Israeli army spokesperson said Israeli forces “are currently searching the area for potential suspects” in the stabbing attack.
In recent weeks, , the Israeli military has turned several neighborhoods and cities across the occupied Palestinian lands into a closed military zone. The Israeli regime has informed Palestinians that they will be given special permits that will allow them to enter and exit their homes.
On Sunday, Israeli forces shot dead at least two more Palestinians in the occupied West Bank in their latest acts of violence against Palestinians in the occupied territories.
In a separate development on Sunday, Israeli soldiers opened fire on and raided a number of homes across the West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron), nabbing several Palestinians.
According to Palestinian media, nearly 80 Palestinians have so far been killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of October.
Tensions in the occupied territories have dramatically escalated in recent weeks due to Israeli regime’s imposition of restrictions in August on the entry of Palestinian worshipers to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
