Iran names winners of Tehran Intl. Sculpture Symposium

The 7th edition of Tehran International Sculpture Symposium has announced its 2015 winners during a ceremony held in the Iranian capital.

South Korean sculptor Su-Dong Cho and Taiwanese artist Wu Ming-Sheng shared the first prize of the stone category, while Peruvian sculptor Pool Guillen received the top prize of the steel category. 

The second prize of the stone category went to Mehdi Seifi from Iran and Stefano Grattarola from Italy. In the steel category, the second prize was awarded to Iranian sculptor Amir Vafai. 

The winners were announced during the closing ceremony of the event held at Tehran’s Art Bureau on Friday. 

The 2015 Tehran International Sculpture Symposium was held from September 23 to October 16 in the courtyard of Tehran’s Milad Tower. 

Artists from Iran and 13 other countries, including Russia, Albania, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Peru, Bulgaria and Greece took part in the annual event.

Their works will be installed in different locations across the Iranian capital.

Organized by Tehran’s Beautification Organization, the event also aims to develop and promote the art of sculpture and urban beautification, and help the emergence and evolution of visual artworks.
