Press TV has interviewed Khaled Abu Haeit, a Beirut-based political commentator, to discuss Israel’s aggressive policies against Palestinians.

The commentator says a full-scale Palestinian uprising or “third intifada” is already underway against the Israeli regime across the occupied territories.

The Palestinians themselves are the major organizers and “actors” of the uprising against the occupational policies of the Israeli regime, Haeit said.

Commenting on the recent violent clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians across the occupied territories, the analyst said Palestinians have been “defending themselves” against Israelis.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Haeit strongly denounced the passive stance by the Palestinian Authority (PA) toward the Intifada.

The remarks come amid recent deadly tensions between the Tel Aviv regime and Palestinians that have been triggered by Israel’s imposition of sweeping restrictions on entries into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) on August 26 and Israeli settlers’ repeated attacks on the mosque.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, at least 30 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces between October 1 and 13.

Palestinians are furious at the settler violence and a plan by Israelis to change the status quo of the mosque that is Islam’s third holiest site after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina. The site is also highly respected by Jews and Christians.

International condemnations have poured in over the Israeli crackdown, with some observers warning that Tel Aviv’s provocations could open the door to a new Intifada against the regime.
