The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) says nearly 300 more Palestinians have sustained injuries as clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians in the occupied West Bank continue.

The al-Bireh-based humanitarian organization said a total of 289 Palestinians were wounded during Wednesday skirmishes in the Palestinian territories, bringing the number of those injured since October 3 to over 800.

At least 10 Palestinians were shot by live rounds, while at least 89 others were hit by rubber-coated steel bullets, according to the organization.

The PRCS added that 189 Palestinians also suffered excessive tear gas inhalation.

Another Palestinian man shot

On Wednesday evening, Israeli forces shot and injured a 30-year-old Palestinian after the man allegedly attempted to drive his car through a security checkpoint near the illegal Ma’ale Adumim settlement, located seven kilometers (4.3 miles) east of al-Quds (Jerusalem).

Israeli forces also fired rubber-coated bullets, tear gas canisters and live rounds at a group of Palestinian university students demonstrating close to the illegal Israeli settlement of Beit El, which lies near the central West Bank city of Ramallah. One youth was critically injured after being hit by a rubber-coated bullet in the head.

In Ariha (Jericho), a total of 55 Palestinians suffered gunshot wounds with rubber-coated bullets, while two were shot with live rounds.

Moreover, four Palestinians were shot with live bullets in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, approximately 49 kilometers (30 miles) north of al-Quds and two others in Bethlehem.

The spike in tensions came after the Tel Aviv regime imposed fresh restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the Old City, where the al-Aqsa Mosque compound is located.
