Press TV has conducted an interview with Mark Glenn, an author and political analyst in Idaho, to ask for his take on recent remarks by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei about the country’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Looking at the comments of leader of Iran’s Islamic revolution, it is quite clear that he is telling the Iranian nation that to remain independent and continue its progress in all fields that is to say. What do you make of those comments?

Glenn: Well I think the Supreme Leader is exactly correct in that the 1979 revolution posed a very serious danger to the United States and Israel and the West continued violent and rapacious behavior that it has exhibited in region.

Iran is the only country that has successfully achieved its own independence not like one of those fake revolutions that we have seen occurring in the last few years under the banner of Arab Spring.

You know in the Christian tradition we have an old saying that has been attributed to Jesus which is that: “An armed man keeps his house and possessions safe”. And I think that what the Supreme Leader is doing here is using some of the same wisdom and telling the nation of Iran that they are under great danger and especially during this period of what appears to be rapprochement with the United States and the West that Iran remains center of the bull’s-eye and that the same forces who are responsible for installing a dictator over the Iranian people under the person of the Shah that they are just intent upon destroying Iran today is they were decades ago and the only way to prevent this from happening is to remain – as Jesus Christ said- a “strongman” and protect his house.

Press TV: Well I would like to pick up that point you made. Ayatollah Khamenei did say that “even surrendering to the demands of the Western enemies of Iran will not guarantee that their enmity toward Tehran will end”.

Glenn: Absolutely and he is absolutely correct. He sees through the charade of these negotiations. He understands that the smiles that the United States in the West appeared to be directing towards Iran that this is just a ploy in order to afford them the opportunity to warn their way into the Iranian system and to undo the revolution at 1979.

Furthermore, I would add to that when I read the comments by the Supreme Leader I was struck by what appeared to be a certain sense of urgency on his part. I think that he probably understands – especially now given the military involvement we see taking place on the part of Russia against the terrorists in Syria which by proxy is really a war against Israel, the United States and the West - that the things that have been ratcheted up are considerably and that Iran may indeed find itself engaged in military activity in order to protect itself because if the United States and Israel lose their grip over what they have tried to accomplish in Syria, there is no telling what they may do. Netanyahu is an absolute mad man and the notion that he would not be willing to launch military aggressive behavior against Iran as a result of losing Syria is not out of the question.

So I think all people especially in Iran need to pay close attention to what the Supreme Leader is saying to remain vigilant and just as Jesus Christ said that they “remain strong, so their possessions and their homes are protected”.
