Saudi airstrikes on Yemen claim 50 lives in Sa’ada province
At least 50 people have lost their lives in the latest Saudi airstrikes on the northwestern Yemeni province of Sa’ada, bringing to over 100 the number of Yemenis killed in Saudi raids against its southern neighbor in the past 24 hours.
The people were killed late on Saturday in Saudi raids on a local market in the town of Munabbih.
Over a dozen people were also killed in different attacks on other parts of Sa’ada.
In a separate incident, three members of a family were killed after their house was hit in Ma’rib province.
Saudi bomber aircraft also pounded the Yemeni capital Sana’a on Friday and Saturday, killing at least 40 people and injuring more than 120 others. Yemen's Saba Net news agency said the number of the victims could rise due to the intensity of the attacks.
Saudi Arabia launched its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 – without a UN mandate – in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.
The conflict has reportedly left more than 5,300 people dead and thousands of others wounded.
