Is there any hope in Oslo Accords?

The Palestinian National Council (PNC) is to meet to discuss a motion to abrogate the 1993 and 1995 Oslo Accords with Israel, according to a senior Palestinian Authority official.

If the PNC approves the motion, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will announce the decision at the UN General Assembly at the end of the month.

The Oslo agreements led to Israeli recognition of the Palestine Liberation Organization as the “legitimate representative of the Palestinian people” and the establishment of the Palestinian Authority in parts of the West Bank.

The vast majority of Palestinians feel the Oslo Accords have failed. Israel still occupies the West Bank and effectively controls Gaza; it continues to wage warfare on the Palestinian people; it continues to steal their land; and it continues to discriminate against them in all areas of life.
