Israeli forces attack Palestinian women at Aqsa mosque

Israeli forces have clashed with Palestinian women who sought to enter the Islamic holy site of al-Aqsa Mosque in east al-Quds (Jerusalem).

Palestinian news sources said on Sunday the scuffles broke out after Israeli soldiers and police officers attacked Palestinian women, preventing more than 40 of them from entering the highly revered mosque.

The Israeli forces reportedly tried to detain one of the young woman, but the Palestinians worshipers repelled the attack.

The sources added that Israeli soldiers accompanied by dozens of extremist settlers regularly carry out provocative tours in and around the mosque compound.

Israeli forces and settlers have also stepped up their attacks on the mosque, which has led to violent confrontations between the two sides.

The Israeli regime has also intensified its restrictions on Palestinian worshipers entering the holy Islamic site.

Israeli security forces have installed iron barriers preventing women worshipers from entering the mosque In recent months.

Palestinians have documented dozens of invasions into the courtyards of the al-Aqsa Mosque, targeting Muslim worshipers by Israeli forces.

“Israeli groups, accompanied by the police, carried out dozens of invasions into the courtyards of the al-Aqsa Mosque and conducted repeated violations and attacks against Muslim worshipers, while the police kidnapped and interrogated many Palestinians, including women and children,” said a report published in May by the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, based in the Silwan neighborhood.

Human rights activists say the attacks are a part of Israeli atrocities against Palestinians in the occupied lands.

Also on Sunday, Israeli forces fired sound grenades and tear gas at Palestinian residents of the town of Beit Jala in the south-central Bethlehem Governorate, who were protesting against a separation barrier set up by the Tel Aviv regime in the occupied West Bank. Several Palestinians were injured in the Israeli forces attack.

 

Four more Palestinians were injured in al-Khalil Hebron after being attacked by Israeli forces accompanied by extremist settlers The Palestinians were headed to work at the time of the attack.
