A mother and her child have been killed in the latest Saudi airstrikes against residential areas in the Yemeni capital Sana’a.
The victims lost their lives in the early hours of Saturday when Saudi warplanes bombarded various parts of the capital.
Earlier on Friday, Saudi fighter jets launched raids on residential areas in the northwestern Yemeni province of Sa'ada.
Several people were killed in the airstrikes on a hospital in the Razih district of Sa'ada.
Saudi warplanes also carried out more than 15 airstrikes on the Harad district in the southwestern Yemeni province of Hajjah.
Riyadh began its aggression against Yemen on March 26 -- without a UN mandate -- in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to Yemen’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.
The conflict has so far left about 4,500 people dead and thousands of others wounded, the United Nations says. Local Yemeni sources, however, say the fatality figure is much higher.
The UN has repeatedly voiced concern over the rising number of civilian casualties in the Saudi military aggression against its southern neighbor.
