1. Beginning with the US Open tennis tournament where Roger Federer, Tomas Berdych and Bernard Tomic have reached the third round.On Thursday, World No. 2 Federer made light work of Belgium’s Steve Darcis and sent him packing in under 90 minutes of play which finished 6-1, 6-2, 6-1. The Swiss maestro will next take on Philipp Kohlschreiber after the German beat Lukas Rosol in straight sets.

2. To motorsports and Formula 1 as drivers look ahead to the Italian Grand Prix which is round 12 of this season. Red Bull-Renault's Daniel Ricciardo says he is targeting podium finishes in the latter half of the season.

3. Over to the 2018 World Cup qualifiers where Asian giants Iran have earned a comfortable 6-0 win over Guam at the Azadi Stadium in the Iranian capital Tehran. Guam have been the surprise package of the tournament, leading Group D after 2 home wins against Turkmenistan and India.
