Those who care about the environment will be interested in this one: A new assessment in the United States says there are just over 3 trillion trees on the planet.
The good news is the figure happens to be eight times as big as the previous best estimate, which counted around 400 billion. The latest calculation has been produced by experts at Yale University in the state of Connecticut. The professionals say the new total number of trees represents around 420 trees for every person on Earth. The team also estimates that humans are removing about 15 billion trees a year, with perhaps only 5 billion being planted back.
