Press TV has interviewed Mohammad Marandi, a University of Tehran professor, and Michael Lane, president of the American Institute for Foreign Policy from Washington, to discuss Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s remarks about US policies in the region.
in his interview, Marandi accuses the United States of being aware of the emergence of Takfiri terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq from the very beginning of unrest and violence in both nations.
Given the fact that the US has pursued evil intentions in Syria and Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran will not allow Washington to empower extremists in both war-stricken countries, Maradni notes.
Iran will continue supporting Iraq and Syria to keep them from falling into the hands of terrorist organizations, which have been created and backed by the United States and its regional allies, the professor maintains.
Pointing to the recent remarks by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on the importance of stability and security in Syria and Iraq, Marandi states that Tehran, as the Leader says, cannot remain indifferent toward the havoc that Takfiri organizations have wreaked on both war-hit nations.
Lane, in turn, says terrorism in the eyes of the United States means an unprovoked deadly attack on innocent noncombatant targets in pursuit of either military or political gain.
Although the White House has designated Iran as a supporter of terrorism in the Middle East, he says, Iran has had a favorable record in opposing Daesh terrorists, and the US administration has been pleased by Iranians’ role in fighting the Takfiri group.
