Iranian film to compete at Brussels children filmfest

“Ranna’s Silence” by Iranian filmmaker Behzad Rafi’ee is set to participate in the 2015 edition of Belgium’s International Children’s Film Festival - Filem’ON in Brussels.

Rafi’ee’s first feature-length production will be screened at the festival’s competition section.

Produced by the art department of Iran’s Islamic Development Organization (IDO), Ranna’s Silence recounts the story of a village girl living in northern Iran.

The film has been screened in several national and international events, including the 22nd Düsseldorf Children’s Film Festival–KinderKinoFest (KiKiFe). It received the German festival’s top award.

Filem’ON will be held from October 1 to 7, 2015, screening 80 short and feature-length films along with animations and documentaries for children aged between 2 to 15.

The 9th edition of the Belgian event will also hold a series of themed workshops and events and will screen various cinematic productions from around the world.
