A car bombing in the northwestern Syrian port city of Latakia has claimed the lives of at least ten people and injured 25 others, local media say.
The bombing occurred in Latakia’s Hamam Square on Wednesday, Syria’s official SANA news agency reported.
Footage released by Syria’s state television showed thick black smoke rising from a car, damage to nearby vehicles and a puddle of blood.
The incident was one of the biggest bombings in Latakia since the beginning of crisis in Syria.
Earlier, on Wednesday, two students were also killed and 15 others injured by rockets fired by foreign-backed Takfiri militants at a college in Syria’s capital city of Damascus.
The foreign-sponsored conflict in Syria, which flared up in March 2011, has reportedly claimed more than 240,000 lives up until now.
The UN says the militancy has displaced over 7.2 million Syrians internally, and compelled over four million others to take refuge in neighboring countries, including Jordan and Lebanon.
