Rotten fruits are usually thrown away. But that could be changing, with a group of students in the Netherlands giving wasted fruit a stylish second life.
They're transforming the fruits into leather. The team starts by gathering leftover fruits from the market. After taking the seeds out, they mash it all up. Then, they boil the mixture to kill bacteria and prevent it from rotting. After cooling it, they spread the paste on a specific surface for the drying process. Once dried, the fruit leather is ready for use. The team has used this material to create a range of products. For example, they've created a bag made completely out of fruit leather.
