Local Afghan security officials said on Monday that the fatal blast took place inside the house of a local Taliban commander in the western province of Farah, leaving his mother, wife and two children dead.

Sources say the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown. However, it is believed that the incident took place during the manufacturing process of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Also on June 11, a truck explosion in the central eastern province of Maidan Wardak left at least five Taliban militants dead and four civilians injured. The truck exploded at the residence of a senior Taliban commander in the town of Bandchak.
