Iran breezes past UAE in U23 FIVB world championship

Iran men's national junior volleyball team has put in an impressive performance at the 2015 FIVB Men's U23 World Championship in the United Arab Emirates, making a glorious victory over the hosts.

On Monday, the Iranian side opened its campaign at the preliminary round of the international sporting event with a straight-set win (25-16, 25-16 and 25-20) in a Pool A encounter at Al Nasr Hall in Dubai.

The Iranian squad opened the match in dominant fashion to win most of the points in their way to lead at the end of the first set 25-16.

Young Iranian volleyball players extended their lead into the second set, and managed to beat the opposite side 25-16.

The Iranian outfit maintained the lead in the third set, and made optimal use of its strengths and resources to roll to a 25-20 win.

Iran men's national junior volleyball team was to return to action on Tuesday as it plays against South Korea.

Iran has been pitted against Cuba, Egypt, Italy, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates in Pool A of the preliminary round.

Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Tunisia and Turkey form Pool B.

The 2015 FIVB Volleyball Men's U23 World Championship opened in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, on August 24 and will finish on August 31.
