Even if Congress rejects Iran deal, rest of world has moved on: Fiorina

US Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina says regardless of what the GOP-dominated Congress decides about the Iran nuclear agreement, the rest of the world has moved on with its implementation.

"Even if Congress votes this deal down, and I sincerely hope they will, the rest of the world has moved on in terms of the money flow," she told NBC on Sunday.

"[China and Russia] have wanted, for a very long time, to open the Iranian economy. They're in there. So are the Europeans,” she added.

Fiorina, however, declared new terms for the agreement, saying as president, she would implement a "new deal," cutting off the flow of money to Iran.

"The new deal will be this: the United States of America will make it as difficult as possible for you to move money around the global financial system unless and until you open every military and every nuclear facility to real, anytime, anywhere inspections," she said.

Iran and the P5+1 group of countries -- the US, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany – announced the conclusion of nuclear negotiations in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on July 14.

Under the agreement, restrictions will be put on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the removal of all economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

The US Congress is reviewing the agreement and is likely to vote on it in September.

Most Republicans oppose the nuclear agreement with Iran, but they need a two-thirds vote in both chambers of Congress to override a possible presidential veto, and to reach that threshold, Republicans need Democratic support.

So far, 27 Democratic senators have come out in favor of the accord. Only two Senate Democrats have opposed it.

On Sunday, Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid supported the agreement.

"I strongly support the historic agreement and will do everything in my power to ensure that it stands," Reid said.
