An American author and investigative journalist in Philadelphia says 2016 Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton’s candidacy is going to be trashed.

Dave Lindorff, a columnist for Counter Punch and a contributor to Business Week and other news organizations, made the remarks on Saturday when asked to comment on Clinton’s email scandal.

According to a Fox News poll released on Friday, 58 percent of voters believe Clinton “knowingly lied” last March about having sensitive national intelligence on her private email server.

“The so-called email scandal is more symbolic than a serious thing. I think what it does is it demonstrates how little -- or strong -- support there really is for Hillary Clinton,” Lindorff said.

“Probably most politicians in the government have private emails as well as government emails so that they can keep their private matters from being subpoenaed,” he revealed.

“I think Hillary has always been sloppy about following the rules. She thinks she is above the rules, and that’s what this demonstrates as a person that thinks that rules don’t apply to her. That was true when she was the First Lady under [Bill] Clinton; it was true while she was the senator, and it bespeaks a character flaw which I think most Americans find distasteful,” said the analyst.

Lindorff went on to say that Clinton’s “candidacy is going to be trashed. We are seeing how angry Americans are in the impressive support at rallies for Senator Bernie Sanders, the independent so-called socialist candidate from Maine.”

“And even among Republicans, there is a lot of disgust at the narcissism of the candidates, and so that gives the appeal to Donald Trump, who is a sort of clown, but says things that appeal to frustrated Republican voters,” he added.

“So it’s really, really volatile electorate. And Hillary Clinton is losing out,” concluded the author of The Case for Impeachment.

Clinton has come under intense criticism after the New York Times published a report early in March that suggested she violated federal regulations by using a personal email account for government business, potentially shielding her correspondence from public inquiries.

Clinton’s use of a private email server potentially put thousands of pages of US State Department correspondence at risk, but it also shielded her emails from congressional and Freedom of Information Act requests.

According to the Fox News poll, 33 percent American voters say that there is “another explanation” for internal government investigators, who determined secret info was in fact on Clinton’s server.

Fifty-four percent, as opposed to 37 percent, said that Clinton has put US national security at risk by using a private email server.
