Political parties in Iran

In recent decades, there has been an increase in the tendency towards democracy as the best system of government, highlighting the importance of political parties or groups that can represent certain views.

There are two main political camps in Iran: reformists and principlists. In the beginning years of the revolution, the camps were erroneously referred to as the right-wing and left-wing fronts.

The terms were borrowed from the French political system which did not apply to our country. At that time such classification was totally biased towards economic preferences.
