West covertly supporting ISIL, says investigative journalist

Press TV has conducted an interview with Tony Gosling, an investigative journalist from Bristol, to get his take on the recent execution of 300 members of the national electoral commission in Iraq’s Mosul by the ISIL Takfiri terrorists.

What follows is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: What is going on in Iraq? The so-called anti-ISIL coalition claims it has boosted its campaign and is attacking the terrorists in Syria and Iraq. Then how come ISIL is able to continue its crimes?

Gosling: I think it is becoming pretty clear to anyone that has studied this in depth and of course that is not the people who have just been relying on the Western media for understanding what is going on in Iraq and Syria. It is one of the most dirty games, I think, we have ever seen in the history of humanity.

The ISIS or ISIL is being actually covertly supported by the West; and we have seen that very clearly with the Turks supporting it. And also, if you go back more than last summer, the Syrian rebels were of course being supported by the West quite openly. Now, we had the very strange change turnaround complete, an utter about-face, last summer where the Syrian rebels became ISIS.

Now this is reminiscent of the book 1984 by George Orwell, where … Big Brother decides, ‘actually we are going to change who the enemy is right across the world,’ in the middle of a speech. This was George Orwell already taking a mickey out of what would happen in the future as the West, as powerful the military industrial complex with control of the press then got its knickers in a twist, if you want, that is to say they set off in one direction and realized they cannot do that and they are going to have to do something else. The only way they can get away with this is by controlling the media over here and we have got an absolute propaganda monopoly going on. Even though you have got lots of different media, they are all saying effectively the same things. And what they are not pointing out is very important…

It would be very, very easy for the West to close ISIS down overnight. They could do it literally overnight. There is a hotel in Mosul, which they are using as headquarters, where people are allowed to go freely backwards and forwards, which is used as a command center. That could be taken out literally like that - very, very simple thing to do. The other thing is bank accounts could be closed, money could be seized internationally. They know where these bank accounts are. But when they find them, people like Scott Bennett in the United States, the army officer, he points out, ‘Hang on! These bank accounts are being used to fund ISIS,’ he is then arrested on trumped-up charges. There is also the oil tankers, where the oil that they are selling - they are getting the money from that - those could be very simply impounded by the West’s warships in the area. But this is not happening because, covertly, they are supporting ISIS. As I say it is one of the most dirty games we have seen and the big failure really here is in the Western media. They are completely failing to inform the Western public about it … The Western public are being kept in the dark.

Press TV: An American official has said that the rise of ISIL was a willful decision. I mean all this comes out to the very fact that is there the will to close down and wipe out ISIL?

Gosling: Well there isn’t. All the time that they are doing what the Western powers, the military industrial complex and the banksters, effectively who bankroll them, wanted two summers ago when democratic institutions, we had a recall of parliament here I am sure you remember in Britain, and it was decided no, we are not going to support any overt attack on Syria, and so what has happened is that the military have got together and they have created this nightmare organization. And I actually think that they are supporting it.

The evidence is coming pretty clear now that Turkey, as a NATO member, is actually part of this support network for ISIL and we have seen quite a lot of evidence of that coming out, with Turkish intelligence agents being arrested… we even got our own SAS, apparently now we hear from The Sunday Express, dressing up as ISIL terrorists. Now the question is: Who are they actually fighting ISIL? Are they fighting with ISIL? So we really need to close this organization down very quickly and that would be a very, very simple thing to do. But to be honest with you, the West’s rulers, who are not, I am afraid, our politicians, they are mostly the military industrial complex in the West, the people who make money out of war and the banksters who support them… By the way, we have just had one of the top bankers in the world… Carsten Kengeter working at Union Bank of Switzerland… He has now been promoted, would you believe, to the top of the German stock exchange. And that has been virtually unreported over here in Britain. So you can see that the press really has a lot, I am afraid, of catching up to do if it is going to inform the British, the Western-European and American media, it is going to inform the public what is really going on in the Middle East. And well done to Press TV for being one of the only stations who really keep on the ball.
