Tehran gallery hosts Iran contemporary artworks

Golestan Art gallery hold 23rd edition of its annual visual art exhibition in the Iranian capital.

Iran’s Golestan Art Gallery has held its annual exhibition of contemporary visual arts, showcasing works by more than 160 artists in the capital Tehran.

‘100 Artworks, 100 Artists’ exhibits paintings, sculptures and calligraphy works by veteran and promising Iranian artists, including Taha Behbahani, Farideh Lashai, Ramin Saadati and Maryam Kouhestani.

Visitors can also purchase a series of exquisite artworks offered at 60 to 84,000 dollars. The most expensive work presented at the event is a painting by renowned Iranian poet and painter Sohrab Sepehri.

Sepehri also became an all-time record breaker of Iran’s Modern and Contemporary Iranian Art Auction back in May, fetching over $845,000 in the fourth Tehran Auction.

About one third of the works offered at the event have been sold so far, including a work by late Iranian artist Farideh Lashai and three works by Arman Yaqoubpour, which were all sold on the first day of the exhibition on Friday.

‘100 Artworks, 100 Artists’ is one of the oldest artistic events in Iran. The 23rd edition of the exhibition was opened on July 25 and will run until August 24.
