Saudi Arabia continues bombing areas in Yemen
Saudi Arabia has bombed several areas in Yemen as part of its deadly military campaign against the impoverished Arab country.
According to the latest local media outlets on Sunday, Saudi Arabia targeted the district of Durayhimi in the western province of Hudaydah.
Saudi fighter jets also targeted a bank, a post office and a telecommunication center in the province of Lahij.
The Saudi warplanes also targeted the Esteghbal military base in the district of Hamdan in the northwestern province of Sana’a.
The Saudi attacks come after the announcement by Riyadh on Saturday that there would be a five-day halt in the deadly Saudi military aggression against Yemen starting from 11: 59 p.m. local time (2059 GMT) on Sunday.
In a separate development in the beleaguered country, the army along with popular committees secured a number of areas in the Yemeni southwestern province of Taiz.
At least eight women were killed in Saudi Arabia’s air raid in Taiz on Saturday.
The Yemeni forces destroyed as many as eight Saudi military vehicles and killed a number of Saudi-backed militants in the district of Madaribah Wa Al Arah in the southwestern province Lahij.
Meanwhile, a senior official of the Ansarullah movement denied rumors that the Houthi movement had rejected the the truce announced by Saudi Arabia in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia launched military aggression against Yemen on March 26 – without a UN mandate – in a attempt to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.
Rupert Colville, the spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said on July 21 that at least 1,693 civilians had been killed and 3,829 others injured in the Arab country since March 26. However, local sources say over 4,500 people have lost their lives ever since.
