Jewish left seeking to remove Netanyahu from power: Pundit

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

Press TV has conducted an interview with Trevor LaBonte, a political commentator from Austin, to discuss an order by Israel's attorney general for an investigation into Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's excessive spending.

This is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: This is not the first time that the expenses and spending of Netanyahu and his wife come to the floor. What do you make of these recent allegations?

LaBonte: Well, I think that they are trying to remove Netanyahu from power and Netanyahu himself says that this is all part of a media campaign to remove him from power because the elements of Jewish left believe that he is crashing the Zionist project and now they are digging up all kinds of interesting dirt on him and getting ready to retire him.

Press TV: That is interesting you say that. How is Netanyahu crashing the Zionist project in your opinion?

LaBonte: His loud and brash way to avert with his warmongering and the public has been waking up over the last several years with Netanyahu’s lies about Iran’s nuclear program and he is just not clever enough and so we have in America as counterpart to AIPAC we have... which has the same goals of the Zionist domination in the region and in the world but that employs stealthier and more clever tactics than Netanyahu’s warmongering.

Press TV:  Who do you think could be a replacement for Netanyahu, considering that people did vote in an extreme right-wing government?

LaBonte: It would definitely be somebody that is going to try to make Israel cool its jets a little bit and lessen its warmongering. I could not name who it might be, but what we will get would be the same policies with a little bit more make-up.
