Stinky smell of “Rosewater”

Ever since the 9/11 incident, Iran has climbed into the top of the list of topics in Hollywood.

The movies made about Iran during this time span apparently indicate the viewpoint of the US authorities towards Tehran.

A hallmark of all such movies is the hostility against Iran, be it the ancient Persia or the modern Islamic Republic.

Another bold feature of these productions is the fact that they follow the same pattern and viewpoints, regardless of the governments in the US or Iran: all of them are anti-Iran.

The movie ‘Rose water’ is the latest example of such movies, a feature film deep rooted in the American government’s hostile view toward Iran.

What was the main reason behind the 2009 unrest in Iran? To what extent was Jon Stewart’s coverage of the protests based on truth? Did broadcasting media such as BBC and CNN only try to show the rallies as actually happened, or did they seize the opportunity to tar Iran’s image further?
