On July 4, 1982, four Iranian diplomats were kidnapped by a group of Israeli-backed gunmen at a checkpoint in northern Lebanon. More than thirty years on, their fate is still unknown amid speculations that they are still alive and in Israeli captivity.

The Iranian embassy in Beirut commemorated the disappearance of four Iranian diplomats who were on a mission to Lebanon in 1982.

Iranian ambassador to Lebanon told Press TV that the abduction of the four men is against all international treaties and conventions.

Back then, Geagea claimd that his militia witnessed the diplomats' killing but gave no evidence to prove that. Some former members of the Lebanese forces have witnessed that the diplomats were handed over to Israel.

Lebanese and Palestinian figures attended the gathering in solidarity with the families and stressed that resistance is the only way to free all prisoners held by Israel.

Hezbollah has declared that the fate of the abducted Iranians had been raised in the indirect negotiations for a prisoner exchange with the Israelis after the 2006 war.

However, Tel Aviv has not released any information on the four missing Iranians.

33 years since their abduction in Lebanon during the Israeli invasion, the issue of the four Iranian diplomats is still alive as more testimonies by Lebanese and Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails prove that the Iranian men are alive inside Israeli jails.
