Final deal to open new horizons in Iran-EU ties: Austria’s FM
The Austrian foreign minister has expressed optimism that the potential conclusion of a final deal between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program would open new horizons for cooperation between Tehran and the European Union (EU).
Sebastian Kurz said on Sunday that the potential final deal between Tehran and the five veto-wielding members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany would give “a new chance for a better cooperation between Europe and Iran, especially on the economic level.”
The Austrian foreign minister, whose country currently hosts the latest round of the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the six world powers, also hoped that the final agreement would boost regional and international security.
“We all hope that Iran nuclear talks would be successful because we think it would be helpful not only for the region, but it would bring peace, security and stability to the whole world,” Kurz said.
Vienna has hosted several rounds of the talks between Iran and the P5+1 – Russia, China, France, Britain, the US and Germany.
Marathon nuclear negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 countries are picking up steam as the sides are making efforts to iron out disagreements with just one day left before the July 7 deadline for a comprehensive deal.
