A Honduran woman has been used as a drug mule by being tasked with carrying cocaine in her breast implants from the Colombian capital, Bogota, to Barcelona in Spain.

The woman was arrested on Friday at the El Dorado international airport in Bogota after being found to be carrying 1.5 kilograms of liquid cocaine using the implants, the DPA reported.

X-ray examination found that the 22-year-old, identified as Paola Deyanira Sabillon, had recently undergone surgery. She confessed to receiving the implants containing what she said was an unknown substance during a surgery in the central Colombian city of Pereira, and being tasked with taking them to the Spanish city.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where the cocaine was removed from her body.

Colombia, where some 300 tons of the drug are produced per year, serves as a drug hub, from which narcotics are transited to Europe, with West African countries being used as a stopover at times.
