British prime minister has warned that Muslim communities and Internet service providers are to stop giving credence to Islamic extremist ideologies that claim the West is evil, democracy is wrong and women are inferior, if Takfiri group, ISIL is to be defeated.
Speaking at a security conference in Slovakia, Cameron urged communities to step up their attempts to prevent young Muslims from being lured from their homes and into war-torn Syria.
“Too often we hear the argument that radicalisation is the fault of someone else. That blame game is wrong – and it is dangerous. By accepting the finger-pointing – whether it’s at agencies or authorities – we are ignoring the fact that the radicalisation starts with the individual,” he noted.
David Cameron said everyone has a personal responsibility to stand against such values, and to stop blaming state institutions for not doing enough to tackle the posed threat from ISIL.
“The eagerness to pass the buck is not just wrongheaded and hypocritical, it also allows extremism to flourish. Instead of endlessly pointing the finger at others, Muslim communities should face up to their own responsibilities,” he added.
The British government has been under fire from Muslim communities for fueling anti-Muslim sentiments in the UK.
Last Saturday, UK Muslim leaders once again warned that the British government is contributing to the spread of Islamophobia in the country.
