Iran seeking deal guaranteeing nuclear rights: Official
Iranian Vice President Masoumeh Ebtekar says Tehran seeks a fair and balanced nuclear agreement with the P5+1 group.
“We expect a fair and balanced agreement that would guarantee all our legitimate nuclear rights,” Ebtekar said in a meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg in Oslo on Tuesday.
The Norwegian premier, for her part, expressed hope that the talks over Iran’s nuclear program would bear fruit, adding that a final agreement would contribute to the further promotion of ties between Tehran and Oslo.
Negotiators from Iran and the P5+1 – the United States, the UK, France, China and Russia plus Germany – are holding talks on drafting the text of a possible final deal over Tehran’s nuclear program.
This follows a mutual understanding on the key parameters of an agreement reached in the Swiss city of Lausanne on April 2. The two sides are working to reach the final deal by June 30.
On Tuesday, senior Iranian nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi said that Tehran “will not sacrifice a good and favorable agreement” for the sake of the self-imposed deadline.
He said a valuable deal for Iran is one that would safeguard the rights of the Iranian nation and meet the country’s demands.
Iran and its negotiating partners are now scheduled to resume the negotiations on drafting the text of a possible comprehensive nuclear deal on Wednesday.

The Iranian vice president also reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s policy to contribute to the establishment of long-lasting stability and security in the region.
Ebtekar also touched on ISIL atrocities and said the Takfiri terrorist group “has nothing to do with Islam and Islamic teachings. This group takes advantage of the name of Islam to stoke violence and hatred and tarnish the image of Islam.”
The ISIL terrorist group controls parts of Iraq and Syria. It has recruited members from several Western countries over the past months.
The Takfiri terrorist group conducts heinous crimes against different ethnic and religious communities in Iraq and Syria.
