UN will never punish Israel for Gaza crimes: Pundit

Press TV has interviewed Dmitry Diliani, a Ramallah-based member of Fatah Revolutionary Council, to discuss two anti-Israel lawsuits that Palestine plans to submit to the International Criminal Court (ICC), in a bid to hold the Tel Aviv regime accountable for its crimes against Palestinians.

What follows is a rough transcription.

Press TV: Mr. Diliani is joining us now to give us his thoughts on these two lawsuits that will be submitted to the ICC on June 25.

Diliani: The petition will be submitted, and this is a decision both by Palestinian leadership and also by popular support. Israel can no longer go unaccountable for the crimes it commits against Palestinian people. As was reported by your story,  539 Palestinian children killed, and over 3000 other children wounded in 50-day war that Israel launched against the civilian Palestinian population in Gaza last year, would go unaccountable for if we left it for the UN reports and the political games, and unethical grounds of political pressure and political corruption that goes on… nobody would be held accountable for them. So, in other words, we as Palestinians will see no justice until we step up our legal battle and bring it up to the world courts, the ICC, and see what happens over there. On the other hand, Israel is threatening by suing us at the ICC and we also welcome that because we believe that the one who is afraid of the ICC is ... Israel and if they want to stop being afraid, they have to stop committing crimes against our people; they have to stop their ethnic cleansing policies they have been executing under different pretexts; they have to withdraw from the lands occupied in 1967 and allow for the Palestinian state to be established and the return of the refugees. Otherwise, we are going all the way until we get our rights, either by peaceful resistance on the ground or gaining momentum through political activities held by the leadership or by the legal side through the ICC. I believe that the combination of all three will give us the leverage here and create enough pressure on the ...  Israel to retract from its current policies.
