South Africa is famous for its gold mines. And now experts in Johannesburg have come up with a new technology that allows gold to be extracted from dumps. Here’s how.  Known as 'carbon and leach', this latest technology is capable of refining two million tons of slurry every month. This involves chemically dissolving the gold from the rest of waste materials. High pressure hoses create a slurry that's sent by pipe to different processing facilities. There, they extract the pieces of gold.
