Chernobyl, life in the exclusion

The file photo shows the remains of Chernobyl nuclear power plant reactor number four.

In 1986 an explosion at the 4th reactor of Chernobyl nuclear power plant created a radioactive cloud which covered the territory of Europe and even reached the eastern coast of the North America.

30 km radius zone around the damaged reactor was designated for obligatory evacuation of civilians and placed under military control. Almost 30 years after the disaster Ukraine's government is opening the deserted area to the world.

Watch this feature story by our correspondent in Ukraine Lena Savchuk who has travel led to the Chernobyl exclusion zone and interviewed citizens and officials.
