US wants ISIL to maintain its grip in Iraq: Activist

Press TV has conducted an interview with Sabah Jawad, the director of the Iraqi Democrats against Occupation, in London, about the recent security situation in Iraq, particularly with regards to the western city of Ramadi, parts of which are under ISIL control.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Tell us about the significance of the progression of the Iraqi army in closing in on the ISIL terrorists in Ramadi?

Jawad: Well, there is huge preparation actually for the onslaught on Ramadi and against the Takfiri terrorists, and it has been quite obvious actually that Ramadi is being surrounded and all escape routes have been cut off actually for these terrorists and the supply lines as well.

Even so, now there are huge battles taking place and inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists. As you mentioned in your earlier comments, more than 200 terrorist have been captured alive and this was reported to be one of the topics of the foreign minister of Qatar visiting Iraq because some of these terrorists actually are Saudis and Qataris helping the Takfiri terrorists in Iraq as well. So they want them released and they are enticing the Iraqi government with some financial support and opening their embassy in Baghdad as well.

The biggest danger as I see to the Popular Mobilization force onslaught on Ramadi and the liberation of Ramadi and I am sure they will be able to do that, they are capable forces as we have seen from previous encounters with terrorists in different areas in Iraq, the biggest danger facing them is the American plan in Iraq as well because the Americans do not want victory to be given to the popular volunteer forces.

They wanted ISIL to maintain its grip on some cities in Iraq so they could exert more pressure on the Iraqi government and to further their agenda of partition of Iraq. The danger is from the [Persian] Gulf states and the United States, who are putting pressure on the Iraqi government and to discredit the volunteer forces.

But, yesterday, there was a report from Karbala by some religious speakers stating that more volunteers should be trained and get ready because the danger against Iraq and the danger of wars in the Middle East is expanding and not decreasing because of the American plans by the [Persian] Gulf states. We see fires now reaching basically Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Libya and Yemen as well and this is liable to be expanded and therefore people should be ready to counter these plans.

Yesterday, one American newspaper actually exposed the part that everybody knows that the American knew of the advancement of the Takfiri militants in Ramadi for weeks and their preparation for capturing of Ramadi but they did not lift a finger.
