Dual-citizen Israelis hijacked US foreign policy: Analyst

Harris says “interferences by the US” in Syria aim to destroy its “democratically-elected government”.

Dual-citizen Israelis have hijacked the foreign policy of the United States, says Mike Harris, an editor of Veterans Today.

“Israeli dual-citizen infiltrators have hijacked the United States foreign policy that is no longer function to the benefit of the American people,” Harris told Press TV on Thursday.

He made the remarks when asked about a report that US military has started training foreign-backed militants fighting in Syria in neighboring Turkey.

An anonymous official revealed the information on Thursday, but declined to provide details on the size of the first group of militants receiving training in Turkey.

Harris called this mission “another tragic mistake,” saying that “interferences by the US” aim to destroy a “democratically-elected government” in Syria.

“This is a strategic blunder on the US, Russia will not stand for it, China will not stand for it, India will not stand for it,” he said, noting that “the US needs to back off this policy and withdraw from Syria.”

He went on to say that “there are elements within the US government that are not loyal to the US, that are trying to get the US to go and fight a war that the American people do not want, do not need and have no benefit toward”.

“The people who are advocating for this need to be arrested and tried for treason and then hung by the neck until death,” he opined.

The US intends to finish the training of 3,000 militants in Syria by the end of 2015 and an additional 5,000 by next April, according to the Pentagon.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since March 2011. The US and its regional allies, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are supporting the militants operating inside the country.

The United States claims the so-called train-and-equip program is aimed at targeting ISIL terrorists, but critics say this will create more chaos in Syria and weaken the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
