Lebanon has held a conference to shed light on the behind-the-scenes of the ongoing Saudi aggression of Yemen, Press TV reports.

Dozens of people attended 'The Truth of What's Occurring in Yemen' conference, which was held in the Lebanese capital Beirut on Thursday.

The event was organized to outline the hidden objectives of the deadly Saudi strikes on innocent civilians in Yemen.

The conference was attended by participants from Iran and the Arab world, who unanimously condemned the ongoing violence in Yemen.

Beirut-based journalist Sarkis Abou Zeid said Saudi Arabia’s intervention in Yemen was sign of weakness.

He said the conference was organized to show “what is really happening in Yemen and the [Middle East] region” and give “reassurance to the Yemeni people.”

Abou Zeid said Saudi Arabia decided to intervene in Yemen after it failed in implementing its policies, backed by its Western allies, in the Middle East.

Therefore, its aggression on the Yemen is aimed to "regain control," he said.

Yemeni MP Sultan Al-Samai described the Saudi aggression of Yemen as a “crime against humanity,” saying the Riyadh regime intends to force Yemenis to submit to Saudi Arabia.

The participants in the conference said the Saudi attack on Yemen has had the green light of Western allies of Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia has been carrying out deadly airstrikes in Yemen since March 26.

The Saudi military aggression against Yemen has been aimed at weakening the Houthi Ansarullah movement, which currently controls the Yemeni capital and a number of other provinces. Riyadh is also seeking to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Saudi Arabia.

The United Nations says about 2,000 people have been killed and 7,300 others injured in the conflict in Yemen over the past two months.
