56th Venice Biennial to host works by Iranian artists

A group of veteran and promising Iranian artists are set to take part in the 56th Venice Biennial in Italy.

Works by Samira Alikhanzadeh, Mahmoud Bakhshi, Jamshid Bayrami and Mohammed Ehsai will be displayed at the Iranian Highlights section of the event.

The Iranian pavilion at the event, dubbed "The Great Game," will showcase works by Iranian artists such as Amin Aqai, Parviz Tanavoli, Niusha Tavakkolian, Sadeq Tirafkan and Parastou Ahovan. Participants from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Iraq and Azerbaijan will also present their works in this section.

The 2015 edition of the Venice biennial (La Biennale di Venezia) will be held under the title of All the World’s Futures from May 9 to November 22.

Directed by Nigerian art critic and curator, Okwui Enwezor, this year’s event will host artists from 136 countries. 

Naomi Beckwith (US), Sabine Breitwieser (Austria), Mario Codognato (Italy), Ranjit Hoskote (India) and Yongwoo Lee (South Korea) have been appointed as the international jury members of the 2015 Venice art biennial.

Considered as one of the world's biggest artistic events, La Biennale di Venezia aims to illuminate current developments in international art.
