Yemeni people say Saudi Arabia is targeting civilian areas in their country, killing innocent people and ruining the civilian infrastructure, Press TV reports.

The Sawan neighborhood of the capital, Sana’a, has come under attack as Saudi Arabia continues its airstrikes against the impoverished nation.

Yemenis are calling on the international community to speak out against the Saudi aggression.

“It is more than enough. More than 1,000 have been killed until now. They are waiting until the Saudis come and kill all the Yemenis, will they then be satisfied? This is against humanity. Please come here and try to stop it with us. Stand up with us at least once,” said lawyer Safieh al-Shami.

Residents of the capital say they do not know why their family members are being targeted.

“What a crime they have done to innocent people as they were sleeping at night. Those who perpetrated the attack should be brought to justice,” a Yemeni man visiting an injured family member in Sana’a told Press TV.

Saudi Arabia started its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 - without a UN mandate - in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and to restore power to the country’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Riyadh.

The Saudis claim its airstrikes only target military positions. However, reports show civilians and infrastructure in civilian areas are being attacked.

In a recent report by Human Rights Watch, the rights group said evidence shows Saudi Arabia has used cluster munition in the northern province of Sa’ada in recent weeks.

According to the World Health Organization, 1,244 Yemenis lost their lives and 5,044 others were injured from March 19 to April 27. Hundreds of women and children are among the victims, according to the WHO.
