At least 40 killed in Saudi raids on Yemeni capital Sana’a

At least 40 people have been killed and 547 more injured as Saudi jets target a missile depot in the Yemeni capital city of Sana’a.

Earlier reports of the Monday attack on the missile depot in Faj Attan district, located on the outskirts of the capital, had put the death toll at 18.

The explosions shattered nearby windows and sent a huge mushroom cloud of smoke into the sky, besides causing massive damage to the surrounding area.

The site has been attacked several times during the four-week Saudi air campaign, with a Yemeni official saying that the air raids are destroying the landscape of the mountainous region.

In the the early hours of Tuesday, Saudi warplanes bombed a market and residential areas in Harad city in the northwestern Hajjah province, killing 13 people and injuring 70 others.

Targets in the Abu al-Nar Mountain in the province were also hit by Saudi forces’ mortar fire on Monday night.

Earlier on Monday, a woman and a child were killed as Saudi warplanes targeted a house in the Sahar district in Yemen’s northwestern Sa’ada province, the Arabic-language al-Masirah satellite television network reported.

Saudi jets also carried out three airstrikes in the Hamdan district in the capital Sana’a.

Earlier in the day, several more locations, including the southern city of Ibb, were bombed by Saudi jets.

According to reports, over 2,700 people, including women and children, have so far lost their lives in the attacks.

Saudi Arabia’s aggression on Yemen started on March 26 with the goal of undermining the Ansarullah Houthi movement, which currently controls the capital Sana’a and most of other provinces.
