The Moroccan Embassy in Libya’s capital, Tripoli, has come under a bomb attack, shortly after gunmen assaulted the South Korean mission in the North African country.

According to an unnamed security official, the bomb attack took place on Monday outside the building that houses the Moroccan mission, which is currently not active.

“A bomb inside a bag went off near the gate of the Moroccan Embassy in Bin Ashour area” in central Tripoli, the official said, adding that no one was hurt in the bombing.

A witness to the incident described the sound of the blast, which shook the building “for a few seconds,” as “very strong.”

Reports say militants claiming loyalty to the ISIL terrorist group have claimed responsibility for both attacks on Twitter.

On Sunday, armed men opened fire on South Korea’s Embassy compound in an attack that left two Libyan guards dead and a third person injured.

A South Korean Foreign Ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said three South Korean nationals working at the Embassy, including two diplomats, were unhurt in the assault.

Libya plunged into chaos following the 2011 uprising against the dictatorship of Muammar Gaddafi. The ouster of Gaddafi gave rise to a patchwork of heavily-armed militias and deep political divisions.

A number of embassies in Libya, including those of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, have been targeted by militants in the past year.

Two bomb explosions took place in February outside the residence of the Iranian ambassador in Tripoli, causing minor damage to the empty building.
