Former US Senate candidate Mark Dankof says the outcome of failure of nuclear talks between Iran and the world powers would be an “evil and unconstitutional war.”
“If these negotiations fail, chiefly as a result of Israeli subterfuge and Israeli subversion from within the American government, the outcome is going to be a war,” Dankof said in a phone interview with Press TV on Friday.
“A war between Israel and Iran, or the United States and Israel and Iran, or the United States and Iran alone that is a war that is immoral, evil, unconstitutional, and with absolutely no purpose whatsoever than to serve the perceived interests of the Israeli government and the extremists who lead that government,” he added.
Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal revealed that Israel spied on the nuclear talks since last year. It also reported that Tel Aviv acquired information from confidential briefings with US officials and diplomatic contacts in Europe.
Iran and the P5+1 – the US, Britain, Russia, China, France and Germany -- are currently negotiating to reach a comprehensive agreement on the country’s nuclear program as a deadline slated for July 1 draws closer.
The Journal has quoted US officials as saying that the spying operation was part of a campaign by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They say Netanyahu attempted to undercut support for a deal by sharing the information with US lawmakers.
The political analyst also criticized Israel for spying on the nuclear negotiations.
“Israel has penetrated the American negotiating team that is conducting these negotiations with Iran,” Dankof said.
He also explained that Israeli spies gave information about the talks to the Israeli intelligence and the intelligence turned this information over to members of the Israeli embassy in the United States.
The analyst also noted that Israeli officials did everything possible to undermine and sabotage the negotiations.
