France elections show massive disapproval for ruling party

The district elections in France have confirmed the return of the UMP. The party of ex-president Nicolas Sarkozy got almost 30 percent of the votes. But the sharpest rise has been that of the far-right National Front party. It’s now leading in 40 out of the 101 districts.
The French have however made it clear, they are not at all happy with the ruling Socialist Party.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has called for a massive anti National Front vote.
Still, there’s no escaping the fact that the National Front is the second biggest party in France.
Some of its candidates are new to politics but have defeated some experienced politicians of other parties.
Its leaders have often made public statements against Muslim minorities.
The party that will win the final round of elections will be known in a week from now and there could be surprises in store.
