A former US congressional staffer says Washington has lost its legitimacy to govern the United States because it is murdering its own people, not the Syrian president.
Rodney Martin made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Wednesday, commenting on a recent statement by President Barack Obama’s special envoy, General John Allen, who claimed that President Bashar al-Assad has lost legitimacy to govern Syria.
"The United States believes that he [Assad] has lost all legitimacy to govern, that conditions in Syria under his rule have led to the rise of ISIL and other terrorist groups, and that we continue to seek a negotiated political outcome to the Syrian conflict that does not in the end include Assad,” Allen said.
Martin, the chairman of the All Nationalist Association, said, Allen’s statement “shows hubris of the American mindset that it will determine who is legitimate and who is not.”
“General Allen revealed his true colors when he said that Bashar al-Assad has lost all legitimacy to govern and that is incredibly arrogant statement for General Allen to make on behalf of the United States’ government,” he added.
“The Untied States created this false Syrian opposition groups from foreign fighters and shipped them in there, and they created ISIL to destabilize the al-Maliki government in Iraq and to destabilize the government of Bashar al-Assad,” he noted.
“The United States imprisons more people than the rest of the world combined. Its security services, state and local police, murder more of its own citizens than questionable and immoral shootings than the rest of the world, about 500 per year as opposed to the two police shootings in the average European police forces,” he further said.
“So one can say the United States, based on its own logic, because it suppresses and imprisons and murders its own people, has lost its legitimacy, and in fact it is,” he added.
“The United States’ system is nothing but a corporatist oligarchy that runs around the world abrading the resources of other countries to prop up its inefficient system and to instill hegemony for its various special interests, and the number one special interest that governs the United States is Jewish Zionist,” Martin concluded.
