In South Africa, awareness around Palestine has transcended the Israeli Apartheid Week, with boycott campaigns, protests and regular programs constantly underway to maintain momentum.

Increasing efforts are underway to get the government to also sever ties with Israel much like countries did with the Apartheid regime in South Africa.

As the only other country in which the system of Apartheid was legislated, many look to South Africa for a potential solution to the Middle East conflict.

But in South Africa itself, the campaign for awareness on the plight of Palestine is growing, with many activists saying the oppression of Palestinians far outweighs what they experienced in their country.

Hassen Seria now explores what efforts are underway to raise awareness and isolate Israel over its continued occupation of Palestine.
