Tourism in Ukraine ex-president palace

The former presidential palace in Kiev has became a tourist attraction.

A tour in the presidential palace of the former president of Ukraine

A year ago on 21st of February Viktor Yanukovych left the country in the wake of deadly clashes in the capital Kiev which left 105 protesters and policemen dead. Despite the peace signed between the president and opposition leaders some of the pro-western protesters demanded the president's immediate resignation and threatened to put his residence on fire. Since then tourists occupied the estate of the Ukrainian toppled president.

The salaries of 162 workers who take care of the property are covered with the funds collected from entrance fees paid by the tourists. A ticket costs a dollar. The estate is run by a group of 20 activists - former Euromaidan protesters, who are bound and regulated with mere promises given to the public. Yet even without the state control the property looks well kept. Only the tourists sometimes partially damage the palace.
