Britain, business and human rights

British Prime Minister David Cameron meets with the king of Bahrain, Hamad Al-Khalifa, December 11, 2012.

Britain has been accused by rights campaigners of putting its financial interests before respect for human rights.

Britain showed support for Bahrain during the uprising that began in the Persian Gulf Arab country in 2011, and has been accused of turning a blind eye to the Manama regime’s atrocities against protesters.

Last year, Britain designated Bahrain as a “priority market” for its weapons.

In this edition of INfocus, we discuss the relations between Britain and Bahrain.
