Iran rejects WSJ claim on Leader’s letter to Obama

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham

Iran has strongly dismissed a claim by the Wall Street Journal that Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has sent a letter to US President Barack Obama.

“This claim by the American newspaper, Wall Street Journal, is an unprofessional media ploy,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Sunday.

She added that the US president has previously sent letters, which have been answered in some cases.

The Wall Street Journal on February 13 quoted an unnamed Iranian diplomat as saying that Ayatollah Khamenei has wrote a letter to Obama in response to an October 2014 presidential letter in which Obama requested Iran’s cooperation in fighting the ISIL terrorist group.
