China helps South Africa save rhinos

2014 was a bleak year for the endangered rhino species in South Africa.

Poached for their horn, reportedly worth US 6,000 dollars a kilo, much of the ivory taken from the endangered creature ends up on market stalls and shops in Asia and the Middle East.

Since the Chinese people are the major consumers of rhino horns, the Beijing government has decided to help South Africa stop the hunters and protect these animals. Marlinee Fouche reports from Johannesburg.
