Coen brothers to head 68th Cannes Festival jury

Ethan Coen (L) and Joel Coen will jointly head the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

The organizers of the 68th Cannes Film Festival have announced that the award-winning Coen brothers are to be co-presidents of the jury.

Joel David Coen and Ethan Jesse Coen, aka Coen brothers, who have co-directed a number of successful movies, will jointly lead the panel of filmmakers and actors at Cannes Film Festival 2015, which will run in the French Riviera resort town from May 13 to 24.

"Presiding over the jury is a special honor, since we have never heretofore been president of anything. We will issue further proclamations at the appropriate time," the Coen siblings said in a statement.

The Coens said, "Cannes is a festival that has been important to us since the very beginning of our career,” adding, "We look forward to returning to Cannes this year."

The auteur filmmakers have jointly written, produced, and directed a number of movies, including the Oscar-winning No Country for Old Men.

Over the past three decades, the duo, known as "two-headed director," has been jointly nominated for 12 Academy Awards and one individual Oscar each.

The festival's Palme d'Or winner Barton Fink in 1991, Fargo in 1996 and The Man Who Wasn't There in 2001, are some of their famous movies.
